Virginia Theatre Association is proudly run by a board of volunteers that dedicate their time to our programming and mission.

J. Harvey Stone

Vice President

J. Harvey Stone is a public-school theatre teacher, director, and writer living in Williamsburg, Virginia. Harvey has taught learners from ages 2 through 72 in everything from Shakespeare to swimming, and from Plutarch to pedagogy. Harvey is in his 26th year of teaching and currently teaches and directs the theatre program at Jamestown High School. Harvey and his Jamestown students are three-time winners of the “Best Original Play” award from the Virginia Theatre Association's annual conference and one-act festival. Harvey is pursuing an MFA in Playwriting at The Playwright’s Lab at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. A simple foodie, Harvey is always looking for the world’s best pimento cheese and will gladly talk cooking shows with anyone.

Lisa Dyer

Secretary

Lisa Dyer, a theatre educator at Tucker High School for 21 years, has focused on building student self-efficacy and creativity into her classroom. A passionate advocate for theatre education and educators, Dyer earned the level of Certified Master Teacher through the Virginia Theatre Association. A four-time director with the American High School Theatre Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland, Dyer strives to provide her students with a varied array of performance and production experiences. Dyer recently performed in "Chess" and looks forward to more performance opportunities. Dyer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Tech with an MA Ed in Curriculum and Instruction, BA in Theatre Arts, and BA in Communications.

President Elect

Patrick Mullins

Patrick K. Mullins is a theatre maker, experience creator, and community builder who currently serves as the Executive Producer of ROŪGE: Theater Reinvented.. He spent the past 15 years as a producer and director at Virginia Stage Company and a professor at Old Dominion University. His work includes the world premier musical, The Earth Remembers by Ronve O’Daniel and Jevares Myrick; Shakespeare's The Tempest with music by Jean Sibelius performed by the VSO; The Taming of the Shrew, a synth-pop fantasia mixing cross-gendered casting, Shakespeare's text and the music of Jacki Paolella; and Moon Take Thy Flight - an immersive Shakespearean festival/visual art installation/performance event in Town Point Park.

Patrick’s work was recognized by the Hampton Roads Cultural Alliance with the Bettie Minette Cooper Arts Educator award, and has been supported by numerous grants from Virginia Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Center for Performance for Civic Practice. He holds an MFA from the University of South Carolina.

Chloe Green

Treasurer

Chloe Green is currently the Treasurer of Virginia Theatre Association and has been a part of the organization for the past three years while working as a Human Resources Learning Consultant at The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. As an ardent lover of theatre, Chloe has performed in over 10 productions in Richmond, VA in addition to performing with and touring with VCU’s award winning Gospel Choir.

Matthew Armentrout

President

Matt Armentrout teaches theatre at Chancellor High School in Spotsylvania County where he has been teaching for 15 years. He started teaching at H.H. Poole Middle School in Stafford County and taught there for 3 years. Matt received his Undergraduate degree in Theatre Education from Longwood University and his Masters degree in Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado. He has served on the VTA Board of Directors for eighteen years while working as the Newsletter Editor, Community Theatre Division Chair, and Vice President (2016-current). He has worked with a Fredericksburg area community theatre, Stage Door Productions, in various capacities as their Youth Theatre Coordinator, President, and Artistic Director.
