THE PROCEDURE by Emma Reilly

THE PROCEDURE By Emma Riley  A VTA High School Playwriting Bakeoff Play

When a young boy’s sister suddenly disappears, he continues to search when everyone else has given up. Will the new procedure provide the answer he seeks?

VTA presents the new play, “The Procedure” by Emma Riley.  The play, conceived as part of a Playwriting Bakeoff, will receive a virtual staged reading on Friday, July 17th, at 7 pm on Facebook Live through VTA”s Facebook page.  The reading is directed by Nichole Cabaniss.

Playwright Emma Reilly of York High School/School of the Arts says, “This has been a really enlightening experience and it’s so interesting to be a part of a virtual theatre performance. This process has really opened my eyes to how the arts have been affected by the pandemic and how members of the community have come together to come up with creative solutions. Seeing my work read and analyzed by actors my age has been so unique— it means a lot to see them engaged by and interested in my writing. I am looking forward to tonight and can’t wait to see how it all turns out!”

The cast includes Will Moiser of Freedom High School (Loudoun County) as Ben;  Alexander Facey of Lightridge High School as Young Ben;  Morgan Mischke of Midlothian High School as the Doctor; Bailey Moncure of Appomattox High School as the Teacher;  Cameron Nguyen of Freedom High School (Loudoun County) as Emily; and Camila Pinzon of John Champe High School as Jackie.   Understudy for Young Ben and Emily: Fallon , a Virginia Middle School student,; Morgan Mischke as Understudy for Jackie and Teacher; Alexander Facey – Light Ridge HS as Understudy for Ben.

The event is free, and donations for VTA are welcomed.
