ON THE SPOT PLAYWRITING COMPETITION

The On-The-Spot event was created over 18 years ago by Mr. Edwin S. Jacob, in an effort to put high school students into a setting where they can work together rather than compete against one another.  In this setting, students are grouped together into 6 to 8 person teams with no more than 2 students in each group from the same school. This urges students to work together across multiple lines to create something unique.  Once given the theme, these random groups must use the next 24 hours to put together a short play, rehearse it—using the props presented at the workshop—and present the play the next afternoon or evening.

In order to participate,  Students must be members of VTA and must complete conference registration. Directors are required to list students who will be participating when filling out conference registration.
